Reviews posted by the teens of the Old Bridge, NJ area during the summer of 2009.
Told in the voice of a returned student, the story of one professor’s brave preparation for death is one we all could benefit by. Morrie has ALS and dies a slow, gradual, and exceedingly painful death. However, instead of giving into despair and self-pity, the ALS victim uses the unique perspective of a dying man to teach people how to live.

Without a doubt, this Dickens’ work deserves to be the classic it has become. Though it was written over a century ago, many of the passions and conflicts encountered by a young innocent growing up in Britain are infinitely relatable, even to an American teenager. While it didn’t earn a spot among my favorite books of all time, I found the 879 pages to be well worth the effort.

I had great hopes for this movie. The trailers were intriguing and fascinating and I went in with high expectations. Though the movie was new and suspenseful, I could not be somewhat disappointed by the ending. I wanted them to save the world! Instead, they sent their children away with aliens and resigned themselves to its destruction.

Despite all the hype when it first came out, I never got around to watching it until very recently. I didn’t have high hopes for it, not being one for action movies as a whole, but it surprised me by capturing my interest and keeping my attention. I have a bad habit of falling asleep during movies, but I was definitely awake for this one! I look forward to watching the sequel soon.
